DESTINASI TERBAIK DI GUNUNG RINJANI LOMBOK

Hot springs have been used by humans for thousands of years. From Roman baths to Japanese Onsen, and from Iceland’s Blue Lagoon to Indonesia’s hidden jungle springs.

More than just a place to relax, hot springs are nature’s therapy. A perfect mix of heat, minerals, and natural beauty.

For trekkers, especially after conquering mountains like Mount Rinjani, a hot spring is not a luxury. It’s recovery.

In this complete guide, we will talk about everything you need to know about hot springs.

  1. WHAT IS A HOT SPRING?

A hot spring is a source of groundwater that comes out to the surface in a naturally hot state.

The water temperature can be from 37°C to 100°C depending on the depth and volcanic activity underground.

In Indonesia, almost all hot springs are located in volcanic areas. Because Indonesia is in the “Pacific Ring of Fire”.

This means that we have hundreds of active volcanoes. And that’s a blessing, because geothermal heat heats groundwater and dissolves minerals.

The water that comes out is not ordinary water. This water has been “cooked” by the earth for decades, passing through layers of rock and minerals.

  1. 7 BENEFITS OF HOT SPRINGS FOR HEALTH & RECOVERY

Why are Rinjani climbers so obligated to soak in hot water after descending? Here’s why:

  1. Restores Muscles After Trekking

When you go down Letter E or down from the Crater Rim, your legs, thighs, and calves are definitely sore.

Warm water of 38-40°C improves blood flow. Blood carries oxygen and nutrients to the damaged muscles. The result: the soreness is reduced 70% faster.

  1. Reduces Inflammation & Joint Pain

Minerals such as sulfur and magnesium in hot water are naturally anti-inflammatory. Great for sprained knees while trekking.

  1. Cleanses the Skin Naturally

Sulfur in hot water kills acne-causing bacteria. Silica makes the skin smoother. Many people say that the skin becomes “glowing” after 3 days of soaking.

  1. Reduces Stress and Anxiety

Heat + water sounds + natural atmosphere trigger the brain to release the hormones endorphins and serotonin. Happy hormones. It is perfect for de-stressing after 4 days in the mountains without signal.

  1. Improves Sleep Quality

Taking a hot shower 1-2 hours before bed raises the body temperature. When it comes out and the temperature drops, the body sends a “it’s time to go to sleep” signal. Sleep becomes better.

  1. Improves Blood Circulation

Heat makes the blood vessels dilate. The heart doesn’t have to work as hard to pump blood. Great for blood pressure.

  1. Detox

Sweating in hot water helps the body expel toxins through the pores. Combine it with drinking plenty of water.

Important note from MRET: Do not soak for more than 20 minutes. And it is mandatory to drink water before and after.
